ÉTUDE
étude explores the other performativities of the pianist
depersonalising the piano timbre
and looking for other sound scopes
the result is a concert-installation with a programe composed by pieces that work on the outsides of the piano technique
the programe is framed by a sonic exploration of the instrument through electronics
the gesture acts as a link between the pieces
and as a liberation act for the performer

BY HER HANDS
2 1/2 octaves from elbow to fingertips, 2 octaves from elbow to fist and palm of hand from major 7th to a minor 9th
by her hands is a solo piano study performed by two bodies. The music piece Shadow (2013) Study for Solo Piano by Rebecca Saunders explores acoustic resonance in the use of clusters, a piano technique that requires broad gestures on the pianist arms and hands.Through the detailed instructions given to the body, the music score invites us to carry this research further into an embodied exploration that results into a deeper physical understanding of the music. exMarina Delicado and Helen D’Haenens question why and how to perform this, rather rebellious, contemporary music pieces in an attempt to step out of a classical established frame.

DELICADO // COMELLES
this is a sound exploration proposal around the possibilities of the piano as an extended instrument and its manipulation through electronic means in real time creation. The unpredictability, the reliance, the musical and sound background of its members are the recipe to delve into the acoustic and electronic universe made of layers and textures, polyrhythms, colour games and cacophonies in which the instruments (piano and electronics) interleave and mingle.
the result is pierced by different styles and genres in which the two artists travel comfortably inhabiting uncertain and bordering spaces; in this manner their works dance between the newest electronic music and the contemporary classical language, the ambient and the most visceral and physical concrete music.
